Prayer Devotion: Prayer is an Exchange of Desire

by | Feb 2, 2016 | DEVOTIONS

When I was writing the Prayer Study I learned one definition of prayer was “an exchange” and more specifically—an exchange of wishes or desires. It’s in prayer that we exchange our desires with God. We give Him ours, and He gives us His.

How often do we take time in prayer telling God what we want, desire, hope, and wish for, and forget to wait for Him to share what He wants, desires, and wishes for? Every time I wait for Him to share His heart with me, it is always about the lost.

When He speaks about what He wants most, I learn more about the greatness of His love for all the world, and my heart never fails to break with His.

May we give God the time and room to speak as our hearts are joined with His and His heart is joined with ours. He wishes that none should perish. May that be our wish, too.

Go Deeper: 2 Peter 3:9, Ephesians 3:14-18.
