THE GOOD PLACE

by: Michele-Lyn Ault

The days are few when everything seems settled, peaceful, in its place. Her normal days are the ones where the boat is rocking, the wind is blowing, the storm clouds are raging, and she’s just trying to keep everything afloat. Maybe something is wrong with me? Maybe I am doing it all wrong?

But then remembers another boat in a storm—a boat on which Jesus slept. And wonders, what does that mean for me, Lord?

“Daughter, I am the Prince of Peace. You are troubled and anxious, worried and upset about so many things. But few things are actually needed—indeed only one.”

Those words are from another story—a familiar one. Martha was busy and distracted with serving the Lord. Mary took her place at His feet. “Tell her to do her part,” Martha told the Lord. But Jesus did not comply. “Mary has chosen the good part—the one, necessary thing, and it will never be taken away from her.”

The same is true for us. It won’t be taken from us, so we must not give it up. Ever.

When the world around you is demanding that you get up and do, Jesus gives you permission to be at His feet. Jesus has a word for your life there. And like Mary, we can hang all of our life on every word He says. {Matthew 8:24, Luke 10:38-42}
