Pace Session Devotion: Work Steady in Your Season

by | Nov 30, 2015 | DEVOTIONS

The Lord wants you to work steady in your season, in every season. The devil will do whatever he can to keep you from doing so, especially when the work you are doing is committed to the Lord. There are a lot of things we can care about and try to make happen for ourselves, but we get the enemy’s attention when we care most about God’s people.

Do you know the story of Nehemiah? His heart grieved when he heard the walls around Jerusalem were broken down and her gates were burned. He prayed and received favor from God and man to go rebuild the walls.

But then it says, when his enemies heard that someone had come to seek the well-being of God’s people, they were greatly displeased. The attacks began. Nehemiah’s enemies mocked and despised him. They spoke bad about him and tried to intimidate and discourage him from going forward.

It is no different for you and me. Just like Nehemiah’s enemies, our enemy will try to stop us from doing the work we are called to do. He will mock us and use haters. He will accuse us and try to confuse us. He will plot against us and try to make us fear harm—fear him.

You know you have the enemy’s attention when hell comes knocking. When it does, awaken the warrior in you, and like Nehemiah declare, “I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” Don’t quit, rather work with a sword in one hand and trowel in the other. Choose to trust God will make a way.

And just like Nehemiah, when it is all said and done and the work is completed and the enemies hear—they will lose their confidence, for they will realize that this impossible thing we set out to do has been accomplished by our God. {Nehemiah 1-6}

YES and AMEN!!!

Go Deeper: Nehemiah 1-6.
