Presence Session Devotion: Lovers of God’s Presence

by | Dec 30, 2015 | DEVOTIONS

May we long for God’s presence, as He longs for ours. May we delight in God’s presence, as He delights in ours. May we be lovers of God’s presence, as He is a lover of ours.

God wants to be with us. Sometimes the truth of His affection for us gets lost in our checklists of which, “I need to spend time with God,” lands.

God calls us to to draw near, and promises to draw near to us. But before we ever took one step, He drew near first. God chose to come to us. Jesus left glory to come to earth—God incarnate, the Christ, God with us is Immanuel.

From the last walk in the Garden of Eden, to His first steps on this earth, to the last walk from the Garden of Gethsemane, to the walk to Golgotha, every step was a step closer to us, and a step closer to God in us. He chose us as His dwelling place, and sent Jesus to make the way.

For we are the sanctuary of the living God, and as God said, “I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” You and I are His.

Going into this new year I am praying for God to revive us, to give us a hunger, a thirst, and a longing for Him so strong that we cannot help but make space and time for His presence, because nothing else will satisfy.

Go Deeper: James 4:8, 2 Corinthians 6:16, Hebrews 10:19-21.
